One Thing That Bothers Me

One thing that bothers me is when people don't take care of their animals! I am the happy and proud owner of one very wonderful cat named Buddy, or Bubba as we often call him. Buddy was abandoned when he was a kitten because he was just a little bit different than most cats. He has a condition that is not very common, and causes him to drink a lot of water. He is almost always thirsty, and we go through quite a bit of kitty litter. But it is not too bad when you consider all of the love and affection that he gives. I think a lot of people don't realize that animals can have all kinds of health problems, just like us. If you are not prepared for taking care of an animal if it gets sick, then maybe you should think twice about getting a pet. Pets are wonderful friends to have and should not be abandoned, taken to the pound, or put to sleep just because they are not 100% healthy. Also, it is very important to get your pet fixed and vaccinated!!!!

My Favorite Summer Recipe

Pazole:

Ingredients:

1/2 a sweet yellow onion chopped
1 clove garlic minced
Pork or chicken stock
1 large can diced tomatoes
1 large can hominy
Pork or chicken or both
1-2 limes depending on size and taste
cumin
Red pepper
green chilies
cilantro
Tortilla chips
Salt and pepper

Instructions:
First make the pork or chicken stock (you can use it from a can if you don't have time). Next saute the onions in olive oil until they start to become translucent, then you can add the minced garlic. Now I add the meat (cut into cubes). I add salt and pepper to season the meat while I am browning it. When the meat is golden brown I add the tomatoes and drained hominy. Then you can add the stock and season to taste by adding the cumin, red pepper, and green chilies. I let this cook for a while. It will smell fabulous. Then crush some tortilla chips, you can use the broken ones at the end of a bag if you have some. The tortilla chips will thicken the soup a bit. I just add a couple handfuls. Be careful because the end of the bag of tortilla chips will be extra salty. Cook the soup until the chips soften. I like mine a little bit on the thick side so sometimes I add a couple tablespoons of flour. At this time I add the lime juice. When I serve the pazole I garnish with green onion and cilantro! The cilantro is very very important to this recipe. Enjoy!!!!!

My Very First Blog!!!

This is my very first blog! I will start out by introducing myself. I am a twenty something female jeweler. I love making jewelry, especially for friends and family. I have always been interested in making things, even as a child I was stringing beads and making fimo clay creations. I feel really blessed that I have found a career that I enjoy. I enjoy making many different styles of jewelry. Sometimes I make things that are clean, simple, and symmetrical. Other times I make things that are very intricate and detailed. I guess it just depends on my mood, what I an making, and who it is for.
